Inside Line Promotions – COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (May 3, 2016) – Patrick Dills feels lucky to have survived the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints main event at Cottage Grove Speedway last Saturday.
Rain throughout the week made for a challenging race track at the quarter-mile oval, but Dills was able to secure his first podium finish of the season as he finished third.
“With how much rain we’ve gotten … the track was pretty bad, but I’m glad we got to race,” he said. “It was rough and choppy. It didn’t take much talent to drive, just put your foot down and go.
“The front straightaway was like a mud bog. We had four cars flip in the main event. I like a slick track where you can maneuver around. It puts it more in the hands of the driver.”
Dills, who qualified fifth quickest and finished second in a heat race to open the night, challenged for second as the polesitter drove away early.
“Lapped traffic didn’t fall in my favor,” Dills said. “The caution came out and there were four lapped cars between me and the second-place car. But, at the end of the night we got a podium finish and loaded the car on the trailer in one piece.”
Dills will be back in action this Saturday Cottage Grove Speedway with the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints division.

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT – Faye Stewart for U.S. Senate
Faye Stewart’s family came to Oregon in 1847 and have been in the state since. Stewart has deep roots at Cottage Grove Speedway, which was formerly Riverside Speedway. His grandfather helped the Jaycees build the track and sponsored many of the racers. His dad raced in the 1970s and Stewart himself raced from 1991-2001 in the modified class.
Stewart has a background in logging and excavation and has always been involved in the local community, serving on many boards and foundations. He has spearheaded the building of Bohemia Park in downtown Cottage Grove.
In 2004 Stewart felt like he could do more to serve and was elected Lane County Commissioner. He has been working hard for Lane County ever since, making sure that the peoples’ voice was heard. Currently Stewart is running for US Senate against Ron Wyden. Stewart and his wife, Tami, have four kids. For more information, visit http://www.FayeStewart.us.
“Faye came on board this year, but he’s a long-time friend of the family,” Dills said. “I can’t thank him enough for all his support. I think he will make a great United States Senator.”
Dills would also like to thank Jerry Dills Trucking, Jacob Daniels Attorney at Law, BC Motorsports, Cedric Ross Hayden Oregon State Representative, Oregon Research Consultants, API, Bonnichsen Repair, Devine Continuous Gutters, M.D. Yearous Logging, Inc., Lynn Mulligan Trucking, Rocket Designs, Dirt Monkey Productions and Inside Line Promotions for their continued support.
