Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (May 3, 2016) – Jack Dover is getting anxious to put the first tally in the win column.
Dover has only been able to race three times this season, but he has two opportunities on tap this weekend the Midwest.
“The year hasn’t been as good as I’ve wanted it to be,” he said. “I’ve been working on a couple of things to get our program better so hopefully that shows this weekend and we can pick up a win or two.”
Dover is scheduled to compete on Thursday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., for the McCarthy Auto Group KC Klassic with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour and on Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., with the ASCS Red River Region and ASCS Warrior Region.
“Every time I go to a race I always want to win,” he said. “But any night you can finish on the podium is a good night so I’m looking for podium finishes this weekend.”
Dover was victorious at Lakeside Speedway in 2012 and he’s been competitive during the handful of events he’s raced at on the fast track.
“We’ve always ran really good there,” he said. “I think I do a little better on big tracks. Lakeside reminds me of I-80 Speedway with less banking. I’ve won a lot of races at I-80 and we’ve been competitive every time at Lakeside.”
Dover hasn’t competed at Lucas Oil Speedway since 2014. However, he earned two top 10s that season, one in 2012 and two top fives in 2011.
“We’ve haven’t finished as well there as I’d like,” he said. “It seems like every time I’ve been there something happens. Either I get caught in an accident or something breaks. Hopefully we can put together a clean night and be up front at the end of the night.”
Dover is coming off a DNF driving a 305ci sprint car for Chris Roseland last Friday at I-80 Speedway during a Sprint Series of Nebraska event. Dover opened the night by powering from eighth to fifth place in a heat race to lock himself into the 15th starting position for the main event.
“We were up to seventh when the mag broke with six laps to go,” he said. “We probably would have been a top-four car if we got a yellow, but we didn’t get one until I broke. To come from 15th to seventh is pretty respectable.”
Dover was credited with a 19th-place result.
His scheduled event on Saturday at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., was rained out.
