Inside Line Promotions – OWASSO, Okla. (May 2, 2016) – Tony Bruce Jr. will return to Dodge City Raceway Park this Saturday for the first time since he won there last summer.
Bruce Jr. is piloting a Danny King owned sprint car at the 3/8-mile oval in Dodge City, Kan., for the GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 NCRA/NSL Region event. The car is returning to its familiar No. 88, which it had prior to King’s son, Steve, passing away in 2006.
“That’s always been Danny’s number,” Bruce Jr. said. “Danny had a car he’d put people in for as long as I can remember and their number was 88. I know it means a lot to him and the entire family.”
Not only is the number change significant, Saturday will be the first race back at Dodge City Raceway Park since Bruce Jr. claimed the Steve King Memorial last June.
“We just seem to go good there,” he said. “We’ve had really good runs at World of Outlaws races there and we’ve picked up a couple of wins during NCRA races there. We just always seem to be up front.”
The goal for this Saturday is to return to Victory Lane.
“It will take doing everything right and making sure we capitalize on everything,” he said. “We have to get through the heat race and set ourselves up to start in the front three rows of the A Main to have a shot to win.”
