SALINA, Okla. — April 22, 2016 — One week remains until the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series visits Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Oklahoma on Friday, April 29. Daryn Pittman, who hails from nearby Owasso, is currently riding a two-race win streak and looks for his first win at Salina Highbanks Speedway.
The series just wrapped up their annual sprint West Coast Swing, with Pittman winning on April 18 at USA Raceway in Arizona. For the 2013 series champion, it was his second straight win and third of the season. En route to the victory, Pittman swept the night, turning the fastest lap in time trials, winning the first heat race, as well as the dash and leading all 30 laps of the A-Feature. Donny Schatz used a late-race pass to finish second, with Joey Saldana third.
Last weekend, Kasey Kahne Racing picked up a pair of wins to increase their season tally. Brad Sweet scored his fifth victory of the season on April 15 at Bakersfield Speedway in California. Sweet used a strong restart with six laps remaining to take the top spot from Saldana. The win for Sweet was his fifth, tying him with Schatz for the series lead in that department.
On April 16, Pittman earned his second win of 2016, with a dominate performance, leading all 30 laps at Perris Auto Speedway in California. Sweet finished second, with Saldana third, Shane Stewart fourth and Schatz fifth. Pittman is one of just three drivers that have won multiple races this season, joining Sweet and Schatz.
In the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series standings, Sweet continues to lead the way, with a 93-point advantage over Stewart. Schatz is currently third, with Pittman fourth and Saldana rounding out the top-five.
The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series heads to Texas this weekend for a two-night event at the famed Devil’s Bowl Speedway, where the first-ever World of Outlaws event was held back in 1978.
