Inside Line Promotions – SEDALIA, Mo. (April 19, 2016) – Josh Baughman put himself in contention to score a win – or two – last weekend.

Baughman kicked off the action on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, where he qualified sixth quickest before advancing from fifth to fourth place in a heat race. That locked him into the feature inversion, which was a six.

“We got lucky and got the pole for the feature, but we had a fast car all night,” he said.

Baughman battled inside the top three throughout the feature before posting a third-place result, which marked his third top five of the season.

“I would have liked to win Knoxville, but any time you can get a podium at Knoxville it’s a plus,” he said. “We’re still after that first win at Knoxville and hopefully we can get there. If I’m going to lose to anybody those are two people (Bryan Clauson and Clint Garner) I don’t mind running third to. They definitely know their way around the race track. They were just better than us. I could have made a couple of things different on my driving, but they just beat us.”

The weekend wrapped up on Sunday at Missouri State Fair Speedway, which hosted an ASCS Warrior Region event.

“We drew a pretty tough heat and started sixth,” he said. “We got up to third, which locked us in the redraw.”

Baughman pulled the No. 3 during the random redraw to line up on the inside of the second row for the 20-lap main event.

“It was a one-lane race track,” he said. “We were following Cody Baker and Jonathan Cornell. Cody got to a lapped car and ran up on his bumper. We had to check up real hard to keep from running over him and we spun out. It was either that or tear a car up.”

Baughman’s early incident relegated him to the back. However, he rallied on the rubber-down track to post a ninth-place result.

“I felt like we could have won either one of those races last weekend,” he said. “It’s tough to win any race, but it’s really hard to get a win with the people we’re racing with. As long as we can be in contention our wins will come.”

Baughman is slated to make his World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series debut at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, this Friday and Saturday for the Texas Outlaw Nationals.
