Inside Line Promotions – SELINSGROVE, Pa. (April 19, 2016) – Joe Trenca is getting into the swing of things and soaking up as much information as possible.
“We are stepping outside of our comfort zone this year so there will be a learning curve,” he said. “Last weekend was a perfect example of that.”
The Mucci Motorsports driver made his 410ci sprint car debut at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., last Friday. Trenca placed ninth in a heat race and eighth in the B Main to miss transferring into the main event by only two positions.
“That’s a tough gig down there,” he said. “It’s a lot harder than people think. Those guys are the best. It’s really hard to show up with no laps around Williams Grove and be really competitive. We knew it was going to be a challenge. I have to work on some things and we need to work on some things with the car. I’m excited about going back this Friday.”
Last weekend concluded on Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway with 360ci competition.
“We led most of the heat race and then we got passed with I think three laps to go,” he said. “That lined us up sixth for the main event.”
Trenca competed for a top five throughout the first half of the main event before he faded to an 11th-place result.
“In the feature we were going really good,” he said. “There were battles from fourth through eighth. I just burned my tires up too quick. We chose a different tire than a lot of people not expecting it to rubber up so quickly. The track was really abrasive. A little past halfway we started fading and I hung on as best I could.”
Trenca is slated to return to Williams Grove Speedway this Friday and Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa., on Saturday.
