Josh Schneiderman – Rough Start but Big Weekend Lies Ahead!
(Bill W) April 5, 2016 – There were a lot of battles for Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports #49 team. Everyone had weather and dusty conditions to contend with. Paired with a stuck throttle in the feature and a bad ending involving an infield tire, it’s needless to say that things could have been better. That hasn’t dampened the team’s enthusiasm as they are excited to compete with the Sprint Invaders and the Gomuddy.com NSL Show-Me-State Region Friday at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa and Saturday with the 410 NSL Series at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa.
Last Sunday’s season opener with the Sprint Invaders came at 34 Raceway. Josh started on the pole of his heat. “We fell back a couple spots to third in the heat,” he says. “We had a motor issue. We were trying something a little different. It just didn’t work. To be honest, I had a little rust to shake off too.”
A stiff wind blew on the track all day, causing for some dry conditions. “I have to commend 34 Raceway for the job they did getting the race in,” says Josh. “The track wasn’t the best, but that was a product of the weather. It was the same for everyone. You take it as it comes and you can’t make excuses.”
The West Burlington native would start ninth in the main event. “We were actually really, really good in the feature,” says Josh. “Coming to the green flag though, the throttle stuck wide open. The only way I could get off it was to pick it up with my foot. On that slick racetrack, it made for a bear to drive.”
Despite having the car set up well, Josh had his hands full with the throttle situation. “We were able to take care of the motor issue we had in the heat,” he says. “But with the throttle, I just couldn’t manage traffic lifting the pedal and using the brake at the same time. I was trying to get around a car there and got too low. I caught one of the infield tires and that was it.”
The DNF was disappointing, but Josh is looking forward to this weekend. “I’m happy because we had a good car,” he says. “I’m disappointed because our results didn’t show it. I’m confident moving ahead to this weekend. We run well at these two tracks. They are in our wheelhouse. Obviously, there’s going to be a lot of good cars around, so we want to do well.”
