Inside Line Promotions – WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (April 5, 2016) – White Lightning Motorsports driver Jamie Ball had a strong start to the 2016 season last weekend as he tackled a pair of races in the Midwest.

Ball opened the competition last Saturday at Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Mo., with the GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Sprint Car Series.

“We wanted to shake the car down and make sure it would respond to changes and make sure the motor ran good,” he said. “We were happy to get some laps and get out of there with nothing damaged but some used tires.”

Ball advanced from seventh to sixth place in a heat race and he finished eighth in a qualifier to start the main event on the inside of the ninth row. He battled for a top 15 for the first half of the feature before pulling off early to save his equipment. Ball was credited with a 21st-place result.

The team ventured to 34 Raceway on Sunday for the Sprint Invaders season opener. Ball started strong as he powered from fourth to win his heat race.

“I was able to get the lead in a couple of laps and win that,” he said. “It’s critical to run first or second so you can put yourself in the dash. The dash was a pretty short race so we tried something outside the box to see if we could hit on anything. What we tried definitely did not work.”

Ball finished where he started – fourth – in the dash and following the feature inversion he started the main event on the inside of the second row.

“The modifieds went out before us and it rolled the track up a little,” he said. “It was pretty rough. There was dust everywhere. It made it tricky and uncharacteristic of 34 Raceway. The car was extremely tight from the get-go. It made it tough to handle throughout the race. I maintained third for a few laps until a restart when John Schulz got by.”

Ball held on for a fifth-place result.

“We didn’t have the result we wanted, but the track didn’t help us too much with that,” he said. “If we can have that be a bad night we‘ll take that and move on to the next one.”

Ball is slated to return to action this Friday at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa, with the GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Show-Me Region and Sprint Invaders. He will then take advantage of the practice night on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
