Inside Line Promotions – QUINTER, Kan. (March 22, 2016) – Zach Blurton will make his first winged 360ci sprint car start of the season this weekend during the $10,000-to-win Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout.
Blurton is set to pilot his family owned race car on Friday and Saturday at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan., during the inaugural event for the GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Sprint Car Series. It will mark his first winged 360 sprint car event at the 3/8-mile oval in several years.
“I’ve won a 305 show there in 2013, but I think the best I’ve ran there in a 360 is second in a weekly show,” he said. “That was a long time ago. The last time I ran a 360 there it was nonwing and it was probably quite a while before that since I’ve been in a 360 winged car there.”
Despite the long span between races, Blurton said he is focused on putting together a consistent weekend at the marquee event that he anticipates will have 40-to-50 competitors.
“Being the first national NSL show I bet that draws some extra cars from across the Midwest,” he said. “First and foremost the goal on practice night is to make sure the motor will be good and we’ll work on some setups to try to get dialed in. If everything is good the goal for me is making an A Main this weekend. We’ll be down on horsepower with a little bit of an older motor. If we can make it in the main both nights or even one of the nights I’ll be happy.”
Blurton will take part in Thursday’s practice night, which is capped by a special qualifying session, prior to full race nights on Friday and Saturday.
He does have two winged 305ci races under his belt this season. Blurton placed 14th and 16, respectively, earlier this month at Red River Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas, during the Red River Roundup with the Sprint Series of Oklahoma.
