Inside Line Promotions – WINDOM, Minn. (March 21, 2016) – The GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Sprint Car Series will make its second attempt to kick off its inaugural season this weekend.
Inclement weather wiped out the opening event earlier this month, which sets the stage for the much anticipated $10,000-to-win Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout this Thursday through Saturday at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan.
“We’ve been working on the GoMuddy.com NSL 360 Series for several months and we’re excited to get a race in the books,” National Director Tommie Estes Jr. said. “I’m anticipating a great event that will set a strong tone for how professional, fair and fun it will be to race with the NSL.”
The three-day event, which is co-sanctioned with the GoMuddy.com NCRA/NSL 360 Region, begins on Thursday with a practice night capped by a special qualifying session. That qualifying session is for bonus money only and has no bearing on the remainder of the event.
The quickest qualifier will receive $500, second quickest $300 and third quickest $200.
Complete racing programs will take place on Friday and Saturday at the semi-banked, 3/8-mile oval. Drivers will start each night by drawing a random pill, which will determine the lineups for the heat races. Passing points will be calculated based on the results of the heats. There will then be qualifiers, which will have an inversion determined by the car count. The combined points earned through the heat races and qualifiers will set the feature lineups.
Any driver who does not compete on Friday night can't start any further forward than 11th in Saturday's A Main.
Friday night pays $1,500 to win and $250 to start with Saturday providing $10,000 to win, $6,000 for second, $4,000 for third and $500 to start. All drivers will compete for the same purse with eligible NSL members earning points toward the Cash Bowl, which has more than $500,000 up for grabs this year.
Danny Lasoski and Jason Johnson have each won the Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout twice with Kevin Swindell also reaching the Winner’s Circle during the marquee event.
Front gates are expected to open at 5 p.m. with hot laps set for 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m. both nights. The cost is only $20 per night for grandstand admission.
