Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (Feb. 29, 2016) – Dominic Scelzi is embarking upon the biggest season of his career in 2016.
Scelzi will tackle many of the marquee events across the country and he will spend a large chunk of his summer competing throughout the Midwest and East Coast.
But first, Scelzi and his Roth Motorsports backed family owned team are scheduled to defend the West Coast as the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series invades beginning this Thursday and Friday at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Las Vegas.
“I’m very excited for Las Vegas,” he said. “It’s one of my favorite tracks. I have my best Outlaw finish there. I feel extremely comfortable in the new Schnee chassis and Speedway Engines is giving us a lot of power. I’m hoping to start the season on a high note.”
Scelzi charged from 20th to a ninth-place result last year during the opening night at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas to post his first career top 10 with the World of Outlaws.
“My favorite thing about Las Vegas is it’s so fast,” he said. “It’s a bigger place than California has. I’ve always seemed to like the slicker, bigger tracks. It seems like the driver can get out of trouble and can race through the field.”
Scelzi said his goal for this week begins with a strong qualifying performance that will hopefully lead to top-10 finishes.
“I would love to go in and qualify really strong,” he said. “That’s my focus right now. If we can start in the first two rows of the heat race I’ve done my job as a driver. Then if we could make both main events and come away with top 10s that’d be great.”
Following this weekend Scelzi will tackle most of the World of Outlaws races in California as well as King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series events until he heads east in late May.
Scelzi is scheduled to compete with the World of Outlaws, Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions, National Sprint League and MOWA Series prior to tackling the Brad Doty Classic, Kings Royal, Ironman 55 and Knoxville Nationals to name a few premier events.
“I’m looking forward to the challenges at the new tracks with new drivers,” he said. “The racing in the Midwest is so much different than California. It seems like the guys who are successful in their careers have to be successful in the Midwest. I’m looking forward to learning and hopefully being competitive night in and night out. I also have openings in my schedule to race anywhere in the country so if anyone has a great opportunity I’d love to take advantage.”
