Jamie Veal tonight ran 2nd to Steven Lines in the last round of the World Series Sprintcars at Perth Motorplex tonight. That was enough for him to claim his first aChampionship. Not bad considering he wasn't contracted to the series.
He started out of 7th in front of Brooke Tatnell 10th. Tatnell had a 4 point lead going into the race. With Tatnell only managing to finish 8th, it gave Veal the championship.
Veal has had a pretty 18 months. Last year he claimed the SRA Series. He then was offered a ride to sub in for Jason Johnson on the World of Outlaws tour. He held his own in putting up some very good results against the worlds best.
His return to Australia this season has bought 11 wins and 20 podiums from all around Australia.
He won the Jackpot Invitational, the Scott Darley Challenge, Night 2 and 3 of the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic, Night 2 of the Australian Title and third overall at the Australian title. He has now won the most prestigious series in Australia.
Scarily he is still young and can get faster.
Congratulations on the championship and a great year!
