Tonight, the streak of Donny Schatz came to an end at Archerfield Speedway. After winning the last 10 races he entered over last season and so far this season, that's where the streak ended.
It wasn't Donny's usual dominance tonight. Initially qualifying 7th out of the 34 starters, he failed to finish his first heat race. He did fix he second heat race by finishing 2nd, that was enough to hurt him and started 12th in the final.
Whilst he has run through the pack in past races, he had a much higher quality field racing including David Murcott, Kerry and Ian Madsen, James McFadden, Brooke Tatnell, Steven Lines and fellow American Brad Sweet.
Kerry Madsen won the race ahead of local star Andrew Scheuerle and Brooke Tatnell. Donny followed them. He still moved up 8 positions, more than any other driver, but the Australians took the podium on this race.
They will all be battling at Archerfield on the 2 day Australian Open joint with World Series Sprintcars.
Congratulations Kerry Madsen!
