Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports #49 team experienced their share of highs and lows over the 2015 campaign. The season was highlighted by a win with the Sprint Invaders on the very last night of competition in September. The West Burlington, Iowa driver looked back on 2015, while preparing for another busy sprint car season in 2016.
Josh is quick to thank those who made 2015 possible. “First off, I have to thank our partners,” he says. “Most of them have been with us for a while, and we couldn’t do any of this without them: Kathy from World of Wheels, Scott and Cindy with Universal Therapy Group, John Mitchell with MD Orthopedics, Brad and Laura with Morning Sun Farm Implement, Jay and Wayne from Ideal Ready Mix, Manny and Dawn Rockhold with Automotive Machine, Jack and Bonnie Elam with J&J Chassis, Tim and Tammy with Engler Injection, Jake from Signtec, Adam at Ted’s Body Shop and Norm’s Koestner Electric.”
Josh had some early season fortune with the FVP National Sprint League, especially in qualifying. He timed in sixth quick at new tracks in Eagle, Nebraska and Jackson, Minnesota. “We had some good luck early with the NSL,” he says. “We were qualifying well, and things were going good. We would have liked to have continued with them, but we hurt a motor in Jackson, and we wanted to keep our focus on Knoxville. That was a huge loss, but that’s part of the sport we’re in. Dad’s favorite thing to say is, ‘If you want to play, you have to pay.’ Stuff happens.”
The focus was Knoxville, where qualifying was inconsistent. “We had some success at Knoxville with qualifying, we just weren’t able to sustain it all year long,” says Josh. “That’s something we’re going to hone in hard on this year. We’re going to work on shock packages and some other things heading into next year. We need to study it and find out what that issue was, or if I was just missing my marks at times.”
The win in September came at 34 Raceway in Josh’s hometown. “It was definitely the highlight of our season,” he says. “This year was a little rough, but that makes it worthwhile. It makes the struggle a little easier and reminds you that you still have what it takes to do it. You just need to get the pieces in the right places.”
He’s looking forward to 2016. “We intend on being involved with the Sprint Invaders again and Knoxville,” says Josh. “We’ll probably mix some National Sprint League shows in as well.”
