112 DAYS LATER: Sweet Ends 35-Race Drought with Opening Night Win at Port Royal's Tuscarora 50

This summer, Brad Sweet was enduring his longest losing streak as a professional Sprint Car driver in the last seven years. On Thursday night, he put an end to all that drought talk.

After 112 days and 35 races without a win, "The Big Cat" finally returned to Whiskey Myers Victory Lane as Port Royal Speedway opened up Tuscarora 50 week with Kubota High Limit Racing. It's his first win since May 16 but seventh of the year, putting him back by Rico Abreu and Corey Day as winningest driver with the series in 2024.

The Kasey Kahne Racing, NAPA Auto Parts #49 started from fifth and methodically worked forward in the 25-lapper. Sweet passed Brian Brown for fourth on Lap 2, passed Tyler Courtney for third on Lap 4, passed Anthony Macri for second on Lap 10, and passed Rico Abreu for the lead on Lap 18.

Winning the DURST Dice Roll on top it, Sweet split an extra $5,000 with lucky fan, Brock Fisher, after he rolled a five before the feature started. The win marked Sweet's second-career score at "The Speed Palace" and first since 2015.

Rico Abreu continued his late summer success, leading the opening 17 laps and finishing runner-up after Sweet snuck by in lap traffic. The RAR #24 is now only 18-points behind the Clauson-Marshall Racing #7BC in High Limit championship standings with 12 races left.

Dillsburg, Pennsylvania's Anthony Macri, a former Tuscarora 50 champion himself, led the way for the PA Posse on Thursday with a P3 finish after starting from the pole position.

Rounding out the top-10 on Thursday was Logan Wagner, Tyler Courtney, Justin Peck, Parker Price-Miller, Sye Lynch, Brian Brown, and Justin Whittall.
