Belleville, IL. (6/18/23) Throttling through a three-day weekend of excitement and speed in the POWRi 305 Sprint Series; Rees Moran would double down in wins as Whit Gastineau would also emerge victorious in stops at Lucas Oil, I-70, and Lake Ozark running in conjunction with the Oil Capital Racing Series.
Starting the first night with thirty-one entries at the series debut at Lucas Oil Speedway would see Rees Moran, Ryker Pace, Sheldon Barksdale, and Joe Bob Lee each earning heat racing victories as Zach Chappel and Terry Easum would earn the night’s semi-feature wins.
Launching on the feature green flag racing would find front-starter Rees Moran battle front-row companion Zach Blurton into the first pair of corners with Moran taking the early advantage as the field plotted for position behind the leader.
Earning his second career victory in the POWRi 305 Sprint Division, Rees Moran would outduel runner-up placement Alex Sewell to capture the feature win. Seventeenth-starting Landon Thompson would clinch third as Zach Blurton finished fourth with Sheldon Barksdale rounding out the top-five finishers for the POWRi 305 Sprint Series feature event at Lucas Oil Speedway for the seventh race of the 2023 season.
Heading into the second stop of the weekend journey, I-70 Motorsports Park would see Danny Wood, Lane Warner, and Jon Freeman each earning heat racing victories as Wood would earn the night’s high point qualifier award to earn a front-row grid for the feature event.
Gaining his second career victory in the POWRi 305 Sprint Division, Whit Gastineau would spread the field from starting fifth over the second-place finisher and one-time leader Danny Wood to capture the feature win. Fourth starting Gage Laney would clinch third as Zach Blurton finished fourth with Jon Freeman rounding out the top-five finishers for the feature in the eighth race of the 2023 season.
Finalizing the three-day weekend at the series home facility of “The Lake” would see Joe Bob Lee, Kenny Potter, and Danny Wood each earning heat racing victories as Joe Bob Lee would earn the night’s high point qualifier award to earn a front-row grid for the feature event.
Securing his third career victory and second of the weekend, Rees Moran would outrun all other entrants from starting tenth with continual front-runner and runner-up placement Terry Easom keeping pace. Joe Bob Lee would clinch third as Johnny Kent finished fourth with Ryker Pace rounding out the top-five finishers for the POWRi 305 Sprint Series feature event at Lake Ozark Speedway for the ninth event of the 2023 season.
